Self Assessment for Sole Traders

Tax returns don't have to be taxing....

Do you dread the end of the tax year? Do you put off working out your tax as it feels overwhelming, scary or just plain boring?

Luckily, I quite like tax returns. It feels good to help people wrangle their numbers into shape and take away their stress, to see their numbers in a simple and helpful way, and know where they stand with their tax.

Save your energy for working on your business

If you fit the following description, I can help:

  • You're a sole trader and not a partnership or limited company
  • Your invoices total less than £50k a year
  • You have at least SOME records (a bank account, receipts)
  • Most of your clients pay into your bank account
  • You're happy to send information to me electronically
  • You're up to date with your tax returns for 2023-24
  • You don't have income from dividends, property or pensions

If you have additional income from employment, that's fine.

What will it cost?

It entirely depends on how organised you are, how much you earn, and how complex your business is

As a guide, a straightforward tax return, where you are able to provide your income and your  expenses in something like Quickbooks, or on a spreadsheet, and you just want me to check your numbers and complete the form with you, will be about £50.

I charge £30 an hour for additional work, like going through all your receipts, analysing your bank account, building you a spreadsheet, or setting you up on some accounts software. But I work pretty fast, so I wouldn't expect a small business that ticks the boxes above, to be paying more than £150.
